You're Invited: Calling Attention to the Needs of Hmong Children

While Minnesota has long been touted for its educational achievements, it is increasingly becoming known for its disparity between students of color and mainstream students. Learn more about the challenges that Hmong Minnesotan students face in achieving math and reading proficiency at the upcoming Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans event, "Calling Attention to the Needs of Hmong Students." The forum will offer an opportunity to hear the Hmong community's reaction to the alarming trends in Hmong students' struggles in academic achievement and a chance for you to better understand how, together, we can begin to close the achievement gap.

Yet, according to the Department of Education, only 36.6% of Hmong students are proficient in math and only 46.6% in reading. The achievement gap is becoming more alarming.
