He retires from his state job wanting Minnesotans to know what he discovered to his surprise in 1987 and holds is still true: Despite perpetual frets about the business climate and fears and about job flight, Minnesota is in good economic shape. Why millennials are leaving the church | July 27, 2013 | CNN.com Time and again, the assumption among Christian leaders, and evangelical leaders in particular, is that the key to drawing twenty-somethings back to church is simply to make a few style updates - edgier music, more casual services, a coffee shop in the fellowship hall, a pastor who wears skinny jeans, an updated Web site that includes online giving.
How Millennials are Reducing Food Waste | July 30, 2013 | USDA.gov Today's college students and young professionals are particularly attuned to the environmental issues that face our nation. Universities across the United States are often stuck with excess food left over from dining halls, sporting events, and other social gatherings that more often than not goes directly into dumpsters. While many young adults across the country are working their way through school and loan payments, they are also becoming increasingly cognizant of the efforts underway at their Universities to reduce food waste.

Steve Jobs broke the rules when it comes to design. Rosa Parks broke the rules when it comes to discrimination. A first line supervisor at a chem plant broke the rules when he violated established protocol to avoid contaminating a nearby watershed.
Talk about breaking the rules is difficult when the headlines are filled with recurring news of leaders failing on their commitments, betraying promises, and stretching the rules for their own profit and gain.
Steve Boehlke understands, however, that the creative spirit will not thrive and innovation will not flourish without the courage to break the rules. With three basic principles and lively stories, Steve will challenge us to examine with one another our understanding of integrity even as we strive to be leaders who want to make a difference.
Identify the rules of a community/culture/organization
Assess when you are personally willing to take risks and break rules to make change
Network with peers in a similar position
Networking and registration starting at 5:30pm, program from 6:00 - 7:30pm.
Steve Boehlke
Whether speaking with emerging leaders in Zagreb, Croatia, scientists and engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center or students and faculty at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, SA, Steve blends the passionate voice of a former youth leader with an edgy sense of business. More than 20 years ago he established SFB Associates, a global consulting practice in leadership development, focusing extensively on senior leaders in R&D. Corporate clients have included Cargill, ExxonMobil, HP, Merck, Nestle, among others. Author of the book, "50 Lessons on Leading for Those with Little Time for Reading," Steve is now devoting more time to equipping the next generation of leaders to serve. His message is simple: Leadership is born from having the courage to be who you are.

50 million Americans don't know where their next meal is coming from. Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine the issue of hunger in America through the lens of people struggling with food insecurity. Ultimately, A Place at the Table shows us how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for our nation, and that it could be solved once and for all, if the American public decides — as they have in the past — that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all. Just because you're not hungry doesn't mean you're not affected by hunger. Please RSVP by clicking here
