Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes as well as 10,000 ideas on how to improve the education system. Like Minnesota's lakes, Minnesotans have a passion for education. Citizens of Minnesota know that education impacts everyone across sectors and industries. In fact, the state is home to the greatest number of Fortune 500 companies per capita with education as a primary method for recruitment. Minnesota also owns some of the greatest educational disparities by race and ethnicity. Naturally, Young Education Professionals believes that education in the United States will be improved if education professionals connect with each other in a range of environments. In Minnesota, Young Education Professionals - Twin Cities (YEP-TC) is working to connect passionate young professionals throughout 10,000 education ideas. [Read more.]

These words all evoke very active images of what I see happening around our shared community - especially as it relates to collaborative leadership. These descriptors also outline a strategy continuum that should move us fromthinking to actionto lifting up all voices and people in our community! There are a number of challenges we face in our community . . . challenges that require collaboration among a diverse cross section of leaders across communities. Whether it is opportunity gaps, or homelessness, or affordable housing, or advancing social and economic opportunities for our most underserved and underrepresented communities, we achieve success when we've come together to share resources and leverage wisdom to develop solutions. Like many Millennials, Tane Danger and Brandon Boat think politics are a joke, except this twosome mean that literally. They're the brains behind The Theater of Public Policy, a Minneapolis-based improv troupe that focuses on lampooning political issues both local and national. "We wanted to see if we could rekindle important political and public policy debates in ways that were actuallyengaging and fun, but without sacrificing the seriousness of the content and debates. I first brought the idea of The Theater of Public Policy to Brandon in the spring of 2011. We spent that a summer talking to smart civic-discourse types and other improvisers and put up our first show in October of 2011. We didn't know for certain that the show would work until we actually put it on stage. After two years and nearly 100 performances, we're pretty sure at this point that it works," says Danger.
