Accepting Applications: The Knight Green Line Challenge!
The Green Line is up and running, and now, so is the Knight Green Line Challenge! Knight Foundation is looking for great projects that will make the diverse neighborhoods along the Green Line in St. Paul even more vibrant places to live, work, play, and visit. Got a great idea to benefit at least one St. Paul neighborhood along the corridor? Learn more and submit your idea by July 24, 2014!
From now through July 24, the Knight Foundation is looking for great projects that will make Central Corridor neighborhoods in Saint Paul even more vibrant places to live, work, play and visit.
At the Minnesota Idea Open, we know there's nothing our friends like better than a good challenge; so when we heard that the Knight Green Line Challenge was on, we knew we had to share it with you.
From now through July 24, the Knight Foundation is looking for great projects that will make Central Corridor neighborhoods in Saint Paul even more vibrant places to live, work, play and visit.
Over the next three years, the Green Line Challenge will fund $1.5 million in winning projects. Any individual, business or nonprofit can apply. It's easy!
Got questions? Go online or attend one of four community Q&A sessions with Knight Foundation staff over the next two weeks. They'll be held at the Dubliner Pub, Hamline Midway Library, Rondo Community Outreach Library and Bedlam Lowertown.

You're Invited: LGBTQ and Allies Reception
Minnesota Rising is proud to be cosponsoring the LGBTQ and Allies Reception this Friday during Twin Cities Pride weekend! Come on out to the Courtyard Marriott to mix and mingle with LGBTQ and allied young professionals for a casual and fun happy hour during the YNPN National Conference. Come to relax after a long day, meet a new friend, or to kick off your Pride weekend with us!
Did you know that the national Young Nonprofit Professionals Network conference is happening during Twin Cities Pride weekend? More than 100 nonprofit YPs will be in town as the Twin Cities celebrate LGBTQ Pride!
Come on out to the Courtyard Marriott to mix and mingle on Friday, June 27 with LGBTQ and allied young professionals for a casual and fun happy hour as Friday of the YNPN National conference comes to a close.
This will be a great chance for conference attendees to meet local young professionals and for locals to hear about the great work of YNPN locally and nationally.
The Twin Cities and Minnesota boast some pretty amazing LGBTQ rights accomplishments. From being the first state to add both gender identity/sexual orientation at the same time to its human rights statute to being home to the worlds only Hmong LGBTQ organization, the land of 10,000 lakes has quite a bit to be proud about when it comes to LGBTQ equality.
Kick off your Pride weekend with us! Come to relax after a long day, meet a new friend, or just to hear about the top 20 most exciting LGBTQ Minnesota accomplishments.

YNPN Twin Cities' popular 2013 Networking Recess event is back by popular demand!
Back and better than ever as YNPN Twin Cities teams up with YNPN National and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs to throw the largest national-local mingler for emerging nonprofit leaders that has ever happened in the Twin Cities!
Using elements from Give and Take we'll play show and tell – giving you the time, space, and structure to share your passions and network in a more meaningful way. Our interactions will center around two questions:
What do you know?
What do you want to know?
Our recess will be hosted at the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota, which in June will be celebrating its 20th anniversary through WAM@20: PAPER, an exhibit featuring works of paper (including prints, drawings, photographs and other works) every year since its opening.
We'll leave Networking Recess having seen some incredible art, and knowing much more about our fellow attendees than their job title and place of employment.
This event is being held as part of the National Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Conference, being hosted in the Twin Cities this year! It will happen immediately following the Nonprofit Leadership Conference, which is Day 1 of the National YNPN Conference.
All individuals in their 20s and 30s interested in/working in the nonprofit sector are welcome! All YNPs participating in the Leadership Conference are invited to walk over together to the Weisman from the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota!

Accepting Applications: Inaugural RISE Program in Twin Cities
New Sector Alliance is expanding to the Twin Cities with the launch of their Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE) program in September 2014! They're in search of members for an inaugural cohort of 15 early career Fellows, who will take part in an 11-month professional development program. New Sector Alliance is expanding to the Twin Cities! We are excited to join the social impact community in the Twin Cities with the launch of our Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE) program in September 2014. Our Twin Cities program will build on the impact we've made on communities in Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Chicago.

The RISE Fellowship is an 11-month professional development program for early career professionals committed to careers in social impact. Fellows serve full-time to strengthen nonprofit organizations, while engaging in intensive training activities to strengthen their skills for immediate and future impact. Join an inaugural cohort of 15 early career professionals in the Twin Cities, and build your career in the social sector!
Program Activities:
By joining the inaugural RISE cohort in Twin Cities, Fellows build the necessary tools to succeed in long-term social sector careers and benefit from the following:
- Host Site projects provide Fellows with experiential learning and the opportunity to realize the impact of their work as they complete high-impact projects that help a community organization create, improve or services. - 1:1 Mentorship from experienced professionals who bring industry knowledge and expertise from management consulting, business, and nonprofit fields and come from organizations like Accenture, IndieGoGo, and The Bridgespan Group. Click here to learn more about our Mentors.
- Training through our Social Impact Leadership Curriculum as facilitated by industry leaders allow Fellows to build high-demand sector skills around topics such as Structured Problem Solving, Workplanning, Social Entrepreneurship, Organizational Strategy, Personal Branding, and more!
- Peer-learning and staff coaching are a crucial component as Fellows join an inaugural cohort of 15 early career professionals, and are grouped into Learning Teams to gain regular support and coaching throughout the program.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Living stipend of $19,000
- Health-care coverage with no financial contribution from the Fellow
- A $5,550 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, upon successful completion of the program.*
* Pending AmeriCorps approval.
Application
Who can Apply?
- Early career professionals who are committed to pursuing a career in the social sector.
- Recent college graduates with up to 5 years of professional work experience.
Timeline:
Applications Open- June-July 2014
June 30, 2014 is the recommended application submission date. Rolling applications accepted afterwards.
Selection Process - July-August 2014
Successful candidates will progress through four rounds during the selection process:
- Application Screening
- 30-45 minute Phone Interview with a New Sector program alumna/us
- 45-60 minute Phone or In-person Interview with New Sector staff
- Reference checks with at least two professional references
*New Sector is not able to refund travel expenses for interviews and does not penalize candidates who interview by phone.
When candidates accept an offer to join the cohort, they must accept enrollment in the program as a whole, not with any one particular host site or project. We begin the matching process (see below) after individuals accept a spot in the cohort.
Matching Process - August, 2014
After accepting our offer, New Sector will offer incoming Fellows interviews with potential host sites. After each ‘matching interview’ we will seek feedback from both the Fellow and the host site in order to identify the best possible match. It is likely that each accepted Fellow will end up at one of his or her preferred host sites, but it is in no way guaranteed that even the most qualified applicant will end up at his or her first choice site.

The RISE program in the Twin Cities will run from September 2, 2014 - July 31, 2015.
