Spring is the season of re-birth and we're excited to share about some of the new content we've been working to bring into the world with Minnesota Rising and our LOCUS initiative focused on Identity-Driven Leadership. We'll debut this new content atbushCONNECT 2016 as part of the new Day 2 Workshops on May 10. At a time when our communities are hungering for context, compassion, validation, and cross-cultural understanding, we hope to hold space for personal and public engagement with topics of power, privilege, and oppression and to create opportunities for building trust and relationships. Read on for the session descriptions below to learn more! Join LOCUS and Minnesota Rising for interactive companion workshops to explore the topic of identity-driven leadership. The concurrent workshops will include intentional intersections between the companion tracks to allow for shared experiences exploring race, identity, and leadership.

Identity-Driven Leadership: Developing Resilience and Restorative Practices
This workshop by and for self-identified leaders of color will weave in opportunities for learning about tools and resources for leaders of color and American Indians to recognize the personal and collective impacts of racial oppression as well as to spend time engaging in restorative and healing practices.A companion workshop for leaders who identify as white or of European descent will build on an exploration of identity and values to provide a space for courageous engagement with race and power. This session is hosted by and for leaders of color as a supportive and courageous space. You should identify as a person of color or Native American to attend this session.

Identity-Driven Leadership: Engaging with Race and Power
This workshop for leaders who identify as white or of European descent will provide a space for courageous engagement with topics like race, power, and privilege. An exploration of our identities and values will be the foundation for dialogue and creative skill-building to understand what it means for each of us to mindfully lead and learn in our respective communities.
A companion workshop by and for self-identified leaders of color will weave in opportunities for learning about tools and resources for leaders of color and American Indians to recognize the personal and collective impacts of racial oppression as well as to spend time engaging in restorative and healing practices.
