[#mnrising Dispatch] December 2016
The conclusion of a year offers a meaningful chance to reflect on what has transpired in one's community, relationships, and self over the last twelve months. The past 365 days have been full of happy, hard, and historic moments around the nation and world. Those things we've encountered and carried in 2016 we can now choose to let go of or bring forward with us as we step across the threshold into a new year. Wishing you and yours the best of intentions, opportunities, and life in 2017. Happy holidays and happy new year!

2016-17 Community Equity Pipeline Launch
Come celebrate the 2016-17 CEP cohort on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 10:30am - 12:00pm. Join us for the 2016-2017 official Community Equity Pipeline Launch to meet the new cohort of leaders who will be supporting and championing state legislation proposed during this year's state legislative session. We are excited to introduce the 14 amazing leaders in the program who represent various communities from across the Twin Cities Metro Area. In addition to introducing this new cohort of leaders doing powerful work at our state capitol for underrepresented communities we will also hear a few words from supporters of the program. The Community Equity Pipeline (CEP) is an immersive 10-month leadership program run out of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation that brings together up to 15 community and nonprofit indigenous leaders and leaders of color to have a powerful and influential voice in the legislative process in order to drive social change and transform lives in Minnesota. Participants learn through a framework that focuses on legislative training, immersion in legislative advocacy, a cohort learning community, and active engagement within their communities through a train-the-trainer model. January Day of Service
YNPN Twin Cities
Ready to release some mid-winter pent-up energy by doing something good for your community, while also connecting with other YNPN-TC members? Join us as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day a few days early! We'll be meeting on January 14, 2017 from 1pm - 4pm at the Arc Value Village in Richfield to assist with receiving donations, unpacking and sorting donations, hanging clothing items for the sales floor, placing new items on the sales floor, and straightening the sales floor. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking while volunteering, but for those looking for more chances to connect, we'll be meeting up at a nearby restaurant for more social time after we're off-duty. The Arc Greater Twin Cities promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families trust The Arc for information, assistance, education and training. Disabilities may include autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, fragile X and other disabilities. [Read more.]
