Minnesota Rising celebrated 8 years since our founding last month. While a lot has changed in our state and communities over that time, what remains true is that there is an abundance of opportunities for leadership development, relationship-building, and taking action to impact and increase equity. Change Network Minnesota
Change Networks are unique learning experiences for people who want to build the skills and connections that will help them become more effective leaders. They are cohort-style programs, so participants will also gain new allies who can support their work during the program and beyond. The initial Change Network offerings are designed for people who want to improve their ability to lead change in a more equitable and inclusive manner. Change Network | Minnesota is led by a collaboration between Cultural Wellness Center and Public and Nonprofit Leadership Center at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Facing Race 2017 Awards
The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations
The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations are seeking nominations for two awards to be given to two individuals or organizations working to eliminate racism and its effects. The awards will be presented on September 18 at the Foundations' event Facing Race: Changing the Narrative. The awards are part of the Foundations' commitment to equity and offer the chance to recognize community members who are courageously transforming our region and state. We invite you to submit a nomination in support of an adult or youth who is helping to promote racial equity. New this year, we will also be considering nominations for organizations that are doing work to eliminate racism and promote equity. Nominations will be open until July 7. [Read more.]

Neighborhood Leadership Program
If you live, volunteer or work in a Saint Paul neighborhood, and want to connect with others who make a difference in their community, then this opportunity is for you! Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, NLP is an in-depth program bringing together diverse leaders from across the community to develop skills and promote effective action. Program runs September 19, 2017 – March 14, 2018 Session Topics Include: • Understanding Your Leadership Style • Intercultural Communication & Conflict Fluency • Navigating Systems • Organizing for Effective Action • Using Community History to Inform Your Current Work. 2017 Board Recruitment Fair
Are you a person of color curious about joining a nonprofit organization board of directors in the Twin Cities? We are delighted to have you attend the third annual Board Recruitment Fair for people of color on August 21, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Come for the whole time or just a bit. By registering in advance, we will have materials including a name tag, contact info labels, and tip sheets prepared for you. At the fair, you will meet staff and board members from the organizations, and decide if you are interested in continuing the conversation to see if it's a good fit – no pressure to decide on the spot.
