From Hurricane Harvey to Charlottesville, this month's headlines hurt the heart. More than ever, as the stakes become increasingly higher and the challenges painstakingly extreme, we are reminded we must seek and speak the truth; call out racism, hate, and bigotry in all forms; and more importantly, go beyond merely discerning and disparaging to do the life-giving work of holding space, building relationships, and ultimately creating the kind of community that knows, values, and is in relationship with one another and the earth. And especially doing so in a way that honors the need for our self-care and collective care. May we bring light and heat to what the world calls forth from each of us now.

Seeking visual identity and web designer
LOCUS is seeking proposals to assist with updating our visual identity and website. Deliverables include a LOCUS logo and website with a project timeline of October 1 - December 31, 2017. Applicants should have a POCI-lens centered in the experiences of indigenous leaders and leaders of color that translates into writing and designing from this perspective. Through the generous support of the Linking Leaders Initiative of the F.R. Bigelow Foundation, funding of up to $6,000 is available for all costs related to this project, including design, production, and hosting. 2017 Elections Summit
America’s increasing reliance on social media creates exciting new opportunities in the realm of elections. Facebook’s pioneering effort in 2016 to make voter registration easier and more accessible reduced costs for taxpayers and increased citizen engagement in Minnesota. The effort helped Minnesota to regain its #1 ranking in voter turnout. The 2017 Minnesota Election Summit, which serves as the University's 2017 Constitution Day event, brings together Facebook leaders with Secretary of State Steve Simon and others to spotlight the breakthroughs in 2016 and lessons for 2017 and beyond. MRAC is now accepting inquiries for new grant review panelists! MRAC holds panels year-round to support each of our grant programs and we take great effort to make sure our review panels the reflect diversity from across the region. As a panelist, you'll review peer applicant groups which can include small non-profits and informal groups (arts and non-arts related). Ideal panelists bring a diverse personal, professional, and artistic backgrounds from across the 7-county Twin Cities Metro area. North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship
Nexus is pleased to announce The North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship. The North Star Fellowship is a four-month fellowship focused on Black American Cooperative Economics. North Star teaches Black Cooperative Economic local and national history, rethinking capitalism, support and network new black coop enterprises and their leaders, analyze local cooperative resources and institutions and support emerging cooperative businesses. The North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship is centered on the history of Black cooperative economic thought and practice. We place priority on applicants who share the ancestry of Enslaved Africans in the United States and place value on their legacy of cooperative economics and collective care.
