[Minnesota Rising Dispatch] July 2021

[#mnrising Dispatch] July 2021

The world has come together for the #2020ne Olympic Games and the celebration is strongest in our home state this week. Governor Walz and Mayor Carter of the City of Saint Paul declared July 30 "Sunisa Lee Day" after the Minnesota gymnast won a gold medal for the women's individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics. Suni is the fifth consecutive American woman to win gold in the event and the first Hmong American to make Team USA.

Her personal story of persistence and overcoming speaks volumes about the spirit and resilience of the Hmong community, the role that family and community play in supporting young people's success, and the importance of believing in what's possible. Wishing continued luck to the many Minnesotans representing the best of our communities at these Olympic Games!

Pro bono services for racial equity

Goff Public offers pro bono services to organizations working to achieve racial equity. They are now seeking to support a new round of Minnesota-based nonprofits and advocacy organizations working to achieve racial equity within the community. Whether it is developing communications strategies, advocating for legislation at the state Capitol or pitching stories to news outlets – Goff Public will support organizations that are striving for constructive change, building relationships, and sharing resources and perspectives to help educate the community. Organizations that are interested in pro bono services can fill out the online form by August 31.
