[#mnrising Dispatch] August 2021The rhythms and signals of this time of year are familiar and different all at once. Students are heading back to school with First Day photos or move-in days, yet with masking and social distancing requirements in place to support community health. The State Fair is dubbed the Great Minnesota Get-Back Together replete with longtime traditions, yet has experienced a noted decline in vendors and fairgoers this year. Our nation and globe are experiencing compounded grief from crises in Afghanistan, wildfires - including in our state, Hurricane Ida, the Delta variant, and more. We need community care more than ever, including knowing that the narrative is not only negative. To that end, consider nominating someone for the #MNCivicLeader campaign to uplift and celebrate everyday community members who go above and beyond to make a difference in Minnesota; donating to support refugee resettlement, disaster relief, climate justice, health equity, or any number of causes you’re presently drawn to address; or participating in upcoming events and opportunities below listed below to build connection and take local action. Above all, know that doing what is *yours* to do is enough. Today and every day. |
